CLAS logo

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and its respective units, are aligning with brand standards for logos and other branding set by the University of Florida’s Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing.

This means that the logos that may have been in use for several years in CLAS have been retired and should no longer be used in any new materials. There is no need, however, to discard existing signage, brochures, SWAG items or other things that we have on our walls and shelves or in our closets.

UF SCM has a detailed site for branding guidance that spells out the what, where and how for logos. In short, the college and its academic units qualify for what are termed secondary logos. These are entirely text based “lock ups” that use specific typefaces in relative point sizes, element spacing and colors.

Going Gator logo

Non-academic efforts, such as initiatives, events, campaigns and community outreach qualify for promotional logos that do include a graphic element in an established structure.

For our departments, centers and programs, CLAS is adopting an approved approach for these that has the UF monogram on the left, the name of unit on right, above the name of the college in smaller italic type, and the full name of the University of Florida at the base.

We want to be consistent with this, so we ask that units seeking files for their logos, in developing materials for print or digital use, reach out to us here. These can be designed in somewhat more vertical or horizontal formats, which can be particularly helpful for units with long names for different uses. We will provide them in formats and color variations suitable for different uses, but please allow two weeks for production.

We often hear people say they would prefer something more creative to “stand out.” Good design can make that happen without running counter to UF brand standards. The design professionals in the CLAS Office of Communications and Media Services are happy to consult and assist you.
